We cleared the patch of grass from dry leaves and damp leaves in 50 seconds and 42 seconds, respectively, while we cleared the patch of concrete from dry leaves in just 18 seconds.īut although subtlety was a challenge, power was no problem: We moved all the fishing nets the 10-foot distance in less than 20 seconds. For example, regardless of the setting we used, we couldn’t wrangle the leaves in the chalk-drawn box on concrete. However, we found it difficult to precisely control the airflow’s direction and effects. The leaf blower lets you choose from different speed settings, and we liked having the ability to control the power. (We could dedicate our other hand to adjusting the controls.) Since it weighs just 6.5 pounds, we found it light and user-friendly enough to adeptly hold and operate with just one hand. It’s a lightweight, easy-on-the-hand solution for clearing an inundated yard, with an airflow capacity of up to 459 CFM and an airflow speed of up to 116 mph. Although we haven't needed it much during the winter, after further use, we've determined the longer chute does allow for a more accurate blowing pattern and control. This little leaf blower still blows us away-pun intended-with its power and battery life. Not only do we consider this model a good value for what it does, but we also like that it can share batteries with other Ryobi products such as saws, drills, and screwdrivers. While testing at home, we did find the chute to be a bit long on this leaf blower, but this wasn't too big of a flaw to dampen our overall experience with the model. Once it's up and running, we could choose between different speeds. The setup was quick and easy-we just had to snap two pieces together. We found it to offer plenty of power and convenience for its price point, earning it the top spot in our roundup. This model has an airflow capacity of up to 280 CFM and airflow speed of up to 100 miles per hour. In the lab, we thought it was too loud, but at home we didn't find the noise to be overbearing for the longer time periods that we used it. We also had varying reports on this leaf-blower's noise level. During lab testing, we reported a battery life of only 30 minutes, but we made no such observation after repeated use in one of our homes. Interestingly, we found the battery lasted longer in at-home use than what we found when we tested the product in our Des Moines lab. ![]() We also appreciate that we can use the battery with other Ryobi products-a manufacturer feature that keeps you in their ecosystem and indeed persuaded a member of our testing team to switch from a competitor's product line. After using it in several test runs, we feel there's nothing it can't blow around. In an at-home test, the Ryobi ONE+ Cordless Leaf Blower speedily cleared leaves, as well as spider webs, grass, sticks, and more, while still being light and compact enough for us to operate with one hand. After our lab tests, we continued testing 10 models in our homes across the country for six months to evaluate their long-term durability and performance. We also tested to see if each blower had the strength to move 0.25-, 0.5-, and 1-ounce fishing line weights, as well as the precision to easily wrangle leaves in a box we drew with chalk on concrete. We tested for effectiveness under a range of scenarios, timing how quickly each leaf blower cleared dry leaves from a patch of grass, dry leaves from a patch of concrete, and damp leaves from a patch of grass. We tested 27 electric leaf blowers (including 17 cordless) in our Lab in Des Moines, Iowa, where we methodically evaluated each unit’s ease of assembly and use, battery life, noise levels, and effectiveness. They're perfect for clearing leaves from small yards or yards with very few leaf-shedding trees.” Speaking on the benefits of cordless leaf blowers (specifically battery-operated options), Deane Biermeier, a member of The Spruce Home Improvement Review Board and Certified Lead Carpenter, says: “Although cordless leaf blowers are less powerful than corded or gas-powered models, there is virtually no maintenance to perform other than charging the batteries. If you dread the inevitable leaf-raking that comes with fall, you may want to consider investing in a cordless leaf blower, which can help reduce the hassle of your fall-time yard work and let you roam around your yard without having to worry about cord management. The least expensive radios ONLY have built-in antennas, with no provision for connecting an external antenna. If your antenna is outside, it will perform better than if it is inside. If there is a large object between your house and the NCPR transmitter (like a mountain, for instance) you will probably receive a poor signal! If your house is on a hill, you'll get better reception than if it is in a valley. In other words, if your radio has a built-in antenna, it will work better in your attic, than in your basement! Or if you have an outdoor antenna, it will perform better on the roof, than on your kid's old swing-set. The higher up your antenna is located, the better chance you have of receiving a clear signal from NCPR. The closer you are located to an NCPR transmitter ( check out this map) the better chance you have of receiving a clear signal from NCPR.They are weakened by objects that get between the transmitter and receiver. ![]() Statement from Radio Bob: You MUST have an antenna (of some kind) to receive any signals on a radio!Īnother statement from Radio Bob: FM Radio Waves travel more-or-less in straight lines. You can get the same reception in a bad location (using a great antenna) as you can in a good location (using a bad antenna)! But lets work on improving both! These two items are actually MORE important than the kind of radio you're using and they are related in a big way. Reviews have stated that this is one of the best tuners ever built! Remember that you have to have an external amplifier and speakers for this one!ĪNTENNA/LOCATION LOCATION/ANTENNA ANTENNA/LOCATION LOCATION/ANTENNA Try connecting a better antenna (see below) and see how your reception improves! If you'd like to buy a state-of-the-art FM tuner (at a very reasonable price) get the SONY XDR-F1HD (under $100). If you happen to have a component "stereo" system (typically separate amplifier/tuner, with separate speakers) your tuner already might have decent sensitivity and selectivity. Then there is the Tivoli "Model One" if you don't need a clock, and like a "retro" analog tuning dial (around $140) or even the button-filled Sangean WR-2 (also around $140) Or the stereo version (the Boston Acoustics Horizon Duo) for $150. Today, (early 2009) I'd recommend the Boston Acoustics "Horizon Solo" clock/table radio for about $100. They sound great, and are a quality product. OK, seriously, there are a few great radios out there yes, they do cost more than a $19.95 plastic throw-away radio but they perform MUCH better.Ripping a car radio from a car, building a 12 volt DC power supply, constructing a really cool Honduras mahogany or Purpleheart cabinet, and finding some nice external speakers.just don't work very well especially when compared to a car radio! Most clock radios, under kitchen cabinet radios, "boom boxes", crank-up radios, etc. Typical $19.95 radios with analog tuning (as opposed to digital tuning, where the radio station's frequency is displayed in illuminated numbers) will work, but only near a radio station's transmitter. Home/Office radios: Most home radios have poor selectivity and sensitivity (we like to call them "junk" in the radio business). This is partially because your car radio is probably better than your home radio. You've already probably noticed that FM radio reception is usually better in your car than in your house. Car radios have to be built to high standards to provide decent reception in a moving vehicle, in the presence of varying terrain, with a serious nearby source of interference (your engine!) all while being bounced around on North Country roads. This radio is located in your automobile. ![]() RADIOS: For good reception, a radio must have good selectivity (selectivity is a radio's ability to separate weak stations located nearby, on the FM dial, strong stations) and good sensitivity (the ability to receive weak, distant, stations at all!)Ĭar Radios: You already probably have a radio with these features. If you have all three of these, you could potentially receive an FM station up to 100 miles away! However, most of us have, at best, only one of these items To receive and enjoy our quality programs to the fullest, you'll need the three A's of radio: FM is a truly wonderful thing if handled correctly. NCPR broadcasts throughout the North Country on FM. 9/13/2023 0 Comments Adding signature in excel![]() Save the result file using Workbook.SaveToFile() method.Remove all digital signatures from the file using Workbook.RemoveAllDigitalSignatures() method.Load an Excel file using Workbook.LoadFromFile() method. The Tikka CTR and Tac A1 do not have an undercut on the thread, which until now has ensured that muzzle brakes, silencers etc. These include the radial and chambered models that have a series of open ports to bleed off the gas and reduce recoil.New - The special "Punisher - CTR / TacA1" Version! There are two main types of brakes you can use to reduce recoil and help create a more accurate shooting experience. They help steady your view through a scope after a shot as well, saving valuable time and allowing you to get another shot off quickly if needed. Match shooters also almost always add a brake to their weapons to steady it even further by eliminating almost all the recoil for quick refiring and resighting. This is especially true if you have a smaller body structure, or are teaching your children to shoot. If you love to shoot, but struggle with holding your gun steady when shooting, a muzzle brake can help you bring it back under control. This can get back into your eyes, but we always suggest you wear both eye and ear protection. They also kick up a lot of dust and dirt, especially if you are shooting from a prone position and are close to the ground. March 27, 2014, 01:37:48 PM I have a Hollands brake on my 16 lb 300 rum and it kicks less than my 12lb 308 with a titan muzzle brake from GAP. Rather than reduce noise, it creates more as it forces the gas out the various ports. The main drawback of a muzzle brake is the noise. This reduction helps reduce kickback, steadies the end of your barrel, and negates side to side movement. Muzzle brakes have the ability to cut recoil by up to 50%, and in doing so allow you to shoot higher caliber bullets for longer amounts of time without getting stiff or sore- which can affect your efficiency. I used 4 rifles during testing, including a 6XC, 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Win, and 300 Norma Magnum. There are a few benefits that make this an optimal accessory to add, but you may want to consider the drawbacks as well. This test focused on muzzle brakes designed for precision rifles in 6mm through 30 caliber. Despite this, the use of a muzzle brake is still a popular accessory option, especially when you need a quick, precision shooting environment. It also shoots quieter than comparative caliber ammunition, which is one of the many reasons why it is so popular. Pros and Cons of a Muzzle Brakeįirst off, the 6.5 CM cartridge was actually designed with recoil reduction in mind, and it already has what many consider a fairly ‘comfortable’ recoil force. In fact, it forces gas through these angular ports, and depending on the design of the brake, can help suppress recoil by pulling it forward and steading movement through a directed force. ![]() The technical term for this is recoil, and it can interrupt the quick resighting of your weapon after a shot and make you less accurate.Ī muzzle brake screws into the end of your muzzle and has ports to allow the passage of pressurized gas. This pressure is what many call ‘kickback’ as it pushes back against your hand or shoulder, lifts your barrel end, and may produce side to side motion. When you fire a gun the pressure from the powder drives the bullet and gasses through the barrel and out the muzzle. |
